Karen Blake, DVM, DACVS
Board-Certified Equine Surgeon & Lameness Specialist
A native of Burlington, Vermont, Dr. Karen Blake began riding horses when she was eight years old and participated in disciplines ranging from jumping and dressage to western pleasure and reining. Fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a large animal veterinarian, Dr. Blake graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2004. Upon graduation, she moved to Ocala, Florida, for a highly competitive medical and surgical internship at Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital. In 2008, she participated in the Large Animal Medical and Surgical Fellowship at Oregon State University in Corvallis. She conducted an Equine Surgery and Lameness residency at the University of California, Davis.
From 2011-2016, Dr. Blake was the only board-certified equine lameness and surgical specialist in the State of Utah, where she ran a successful sports medicine practice. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, and the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association. Dr Blake has also worked at OSU as a locum surgeon and lameness specialist.
Dr. Blake welcomes requests for both local and out-of-state consultations and appointments.
